The Transportation Department of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is seeking a Transportation Planner to support the Sustainable Development program, specifically related to Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordination. This position offers an exciting opportunity for candidates to participate in a wide range of activities with stakeholders in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area related to bicycle/pedestrian planning and studies; multi-modal corridor studies; safety education and outreach; a regional pedestrian safety action plan, regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) and stakeholder meetings; data collection, including the bicycle and pedestrian count program; geodatabase file maintenance of regional trails and bikeways; spatial analysis and data editing; and creating detailed maps for various planning projects.
The active transportation network in the Dallas-Fort Worth region consists of more than 8,600 miles of existing and planned regional shared-use paths (Regional Veloweb), supporting community shared-use paths and on-street bikeways in various stages of development.
