Full Bio

Since 1995, World Transport Policy & Practice (WTPP) has published quality practical research and analysis on sustainable transportation, specifically ideas, policies and practical initiatives that will bring about a reduction in global dependency on cars.

It publishes work by respected researchers at established well-known institutions and also articles written by young and new researchers, working practitioners as well as transportation advocates. Thus WTPP is unique in presenting pertinent and relevant practices from outside the usual pipeline of journal papers.

WTPP is also unique in its policy of no author fees and no subscription fees. After being published by John Whitelegg in England for 26 years, in 2022, Transportation Choices for Sustainable Communities became the publisher. There are of course expenses to ensure a high quality graphically engaging journal on a free and open platform; thus funds are needed from donations. We are proud to continue our 26+ year tradition of our no-fee journal which enables us to publish practical solutions and analysis to promote sustainable transportation.

About Transportation Choices for Sustainable Communities, a 501c3 nonprofit.

TCSC’s mission is to advance understanding and support for sustainable transportation as an essential component of livable communities and cities. In addition, since 2022, TCSC has been responsible for publishing the journal World Transport Policy & Practice.

Transit Coordination Leads to Better Transit and More Riders

Regional transit coordination provides the best transit experience in an urban area. It enables better, more affordable transit which in turn improves ridership. After 50 years of experience in Europe, the U.S. should finally embrace the concept.

Aerial Cable Cars as Urban Transport

While often thought of as only for tourists in mountain areas, aerial cable cars have proven to be effective in providing transportation in urban areas, such as across rivers in New York City and freeways in Portland.

WTPP June Issue Spotlights Livable Cities, Essential Transportation Components

The June 2023 issue of World Transport Policy & Practice spotlights livable cities and features articles about three essential components of livable cities: public transit, bicycling, and reducing car use.

A Toolkit of Urban Vehicle Access Regulations to Improve Livability

You may have heard Paris is implementing traffic restrictions, but did you know that Paris is very late to the party? European cities, big and small, have been implementing measures to keep traffic from destroying urban quality of life for decades.
